What is GPON?

GPON (Gigabit passive optic network) gives you superfast broadband speeds delivered over our very own network. Fibre optic cable connects to BTBN Network nodes, and from there short lengths of dedicated BRISKTEL fiber optic connect to a GPON wall socket in your premises.

GPON Installation

How long does it take to get connected to GPON?
Typically, GPON connections are completed within 10 business days although in some cases connection may take up to 20 business days - this varies depending on whether or not you've had GPON installed at your address previously as well as GPON installer availability. In such scenarios, you or someone over the age of 18 must be in attendance for the appointment.

Connections may occur sooner if GPON has previously been connected at your address and no installer is required.

What happens when GPON is installed?
If a GPON installer is required to visit your premises to install any required equipment or complete your GPON connection, we'll be in touch to book a suitable appointment with you. In such scenarios, you or someone over the age of 18 must be in attendance for the appointment.

An installation is typically not required if GPON has been previously connected at your address within the last 6 months.

General Terms

Connecting to GPON

• Please do not disconnect your existing services until your GPON service is working.

• We are responsible for your service up to the Network Boundary Point which is the first GPON wall socket in your premises.
• Customer equipment (such as new or existing cabling and telecommunications outlets) beyond the Network Boundary Point may not work when you connect to GPON. You may require a registered cabler to connect these to your GPON service. You will be responsible for the arrangement and costs of any such fiber optic work.
• The activation of your selected services does not necessarily cancel any existing phone or broadband services. It is your responsibility to contact your existing service providers to ensure that unwanted services are cancelled, otherwise you may continue to be billed for them.

Telephony Services

• GPON Phone is a phone service that is offered with your GPON plan. To use it, you will require a standard phone handset (approved for use in Pakistan) and VoIP-compatible modem supplied by BRISKTEL. Our GPON Phone services will not work on a third party modem.
• Calls to 000 emergency services may not be possible in the event of a power outage.
• Calls to certain 'high-risk' international destinations are not available by default.
• This service is provided on the basis that you waive your Customer Service Guarantee (CSG) in relation to the GPON Phone. You do not have to agree to the waiver, but if you do not agree, we have the right to decline to supply the service.
• For calls on GPONPhone:
  • Timed international calls are charged per second.
  • Calls to Pakistans mobile numbers are charged per 30 second block.
  • Included calls are subject to our Acceptable Use Policy.
• GPON Phone must be paired with an active BRISKTEL GPON service. If your GPON plan is cancelled, your GPON Phone service will also be cancelled.

Hardware

• With GPON you will be supplied an BRISKTEL modem (which is WiFi and VoIP enabled).
• PKR hardware delivery fee applies for BRISKTEL-supplied hardware.

All about your quota

• BRISKTEL GPON comes with unlimited data, and no excess usage charges or shaping speeds.

Contract Terms

• All BRISKTEL ULTRA Broadband GPON plans are offered on a no lock-in contract.

Call Rates

You can add a call pack to your GPON plan to reduce call costs on eligible calls. Call pack charges apply.

How it Works

To get GPON Phone up and running in your home, you'll need:

• A phone handset and cable
   GPON Phone works just like a normal phone. To start using it, all you need to do is plug a standard phone handset (approved for use in Pakistan) into your GPON WiFi modem.
• GPON WiFi Modem
   You must use the GPON WiFi Modem supplied by us in order for your GPON Phone service to work.
